Before leaving for his fundraising dinner in North Carolina with two of the Republicans Party’s wealthiest backers, President Trump paused to take a quick potshot at his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
“We have a very good relationship. We disagree on a couple of things, sometimes I’d like him to be a little bit tougher. But other than that we have a very good relationship.”
Their relationship, of course, has been put under much stress recently after NBC News revealed that the former Exxon-Mobil CEO had called the President a “f*cking idiot” after Trump’s wild speech at the 2017 Boy Scout Jamboree.
Tillerson had reportedly been ready to resign after that incident but was convinced to stay. The President forced him to hold a press conference for the express purpose of telling America how smart and how cool Donald Trump is.
But it seems that has failed to mollify the President, who even this morning was still raging against NBC News and the media for reporting on the dysfunction that dogs his administration.
This latest “tougher” jab is a clear shot at his Secretary of State. It’s going to be interesting seeing how much more of this he can take.
