SNL’s Surprise Guest Just Gave A Powerful Tom Petty Tribute To The Victims Of Vegas Massacre [Watch]

Saturday Night Live is back, and tonight’s episode opened with a powerful musical tribute to 58 men, women, and children who were lost in the horrifying Las Vegas massacre last weekend.

James Aldean, the country singer who was playing at the Route 91 music festival in Las Vegas when the gunman opened fire on the crowd had a moving message for the survivors and the grieving families.

“So many people are hurting. There are children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends, they’re all part of our family. So I want to say to them: We hurt for you and we hurt with you. You can be sure that we are going to walk through these tough times together every step of the way. Because when America is at its best, our bond and our spirit, it’s unbreakable.”

He then gave a painful yet powerful rendition of the iconic Tom Petty song “Won’t Back Down,” honoring not only the fallen innocents but also Tom Petty himself, who sadly passed away on Monday from cardiac arrest at the age of 66.
